SHOW LOW AZ REAL ESTATE

Show Low is the commercial hub of the White Mountains and has the largest population of the surrounding communities at 10,660 people. It is home to many small businesses and offers residents commodities of a big city without the heavy traffic and hectic lifestyle. According to legend, Show Low received its unusual name as a result of a poker game between two settlers, Corydon E. Cooley and Marion Clark, who lived on a ranch that is now Show Low. The two realized that they could not continue to share the land and therefore they decided to settle the question of who would stay with a poker game. As the game carried on, no winner was evident and Clark said to Cooley, “If you can show low, you win.” Cooley then turned up the “Deuce of Clubs” (the lowest possible card) and replied, “show low it is”. The main avenue in town now carries the name, “Deuce of Clubs”. Now whether or not said legend is true does not take away from this White Mountain city’s appeal. The city is a transition from open, brush-covered land northward to the pine trees of the White Mountains. The city is home to the White Mountain campus of Northland Pioneer College which offers many different associates degrees from cosmetology to nursing and many others. Show Low is also home to a state of the art hospital that services the entire White Mountains and is also the largest employer in the area. Show Low can truly offer a small town experience without losing big city luxuries.
